Data Interpretation

In November 2015, aSPI-core which is used to measure the price level variation of mainstream online shopping commodities slightly rose by 0.06%, demonstrating that the price level of mainstream online shopping commodities continued to rise slightly compared with the previous month. Judging from the contribution rate of various major categories of commodities on aSPI-core, price rise of clothing commodities was the reason that promoted the slight rising of aSPI-core. The year-on-year aSPI-core rising speed is still beneath the zero with a year-on-year decreasing rate of 1.66% and narrows by 0.19 percentage point compared with the prior period.

Food is classified into: 1. grain, 2. starch and starch products, 3. dry beans and beans products, 4. oils and fats, 5. poultry and poultry products, 6. eggs, 7. aquatic products, 8. vegetables, 9. seasonings, 10. sugar, 11. tea and beverage, 12. dried and fresh melons and fruits, 13. pastries and biscuits, 14. liquid milk and milk products, 15. dine-out food, 16. other food.

In terms of commodity price level, among the month-on-month price indices of aSPI-core of ten major categories of core commodities (red columns), the prices of four categories of commodities rose. Among them, food prices rose to the greatest extent with a month-on-month increasing rate of 1.48% this month, and the increasing rate of food prices has accumulated to 6.76% since early 2015. Commodities of this category sold on the platform included: altogether 16 categories of commodities including grain, starch and starch products, dry beans and beans products, oils and fats, poultry and poultry products, eggs, aquatic products, vegetables, seasonings, sugar, tea and beverage, dried and fresh melons and fruits, pastries and biscuits, liquid milk and milk products, dine-out food and other food; currently, fresh vegetables and meat (not included as online shopping core commodities) haven't been included as major exchange products in this category. The prices of the rest six categories of commodities have slightly decreased. Among them, traffic and communication commodities prices have decreased to the greatest extent with a month-on-month decreasing rate of 1.82% in October, and the decreasing rate of prices of this category has accumulated to 8.64% since early 2015.

In terms of the mean expenditures price, among the aSPI of ten major categories (blue column), the mean expenditures price of nine major categories of commodities has increased. Among the ten categories, hobbies, collections and investment commodities have increased to the greatest extent with a month-on-month increasing rate of 5.68%; only the mean price of traffic and communication commodities has decreased with a month-on-month decreasing rate of 1.39%.

In terms of commodity price level, among the aSPI-core, the year-on-year price indices of ten major categories of core commodities (red columns), the prices of three categories of commodities increased compared with the same period in 2014, and food prices rose to the greatest extent with a year-on-year increasing rate of 7.44%; the prices of the rest seven categories of commodities decreased compared with the same period in the previous year, and traffic and communication prices decreased to the greatest extent with a year-on-year decreasing rate of 11.09%.

In terms of the mean expenditures price, among the aSPI, namely Alibaba Shopping Indices of ten major categories of commodities (blue column), the mean expenditures price of nine major categories of commodities has risen compared with the same period in 2014. Among the ten categories, the expenditures price of hobbies, collections and investment commodities has risen to the greatest extent with a year-on-year increasing rate of 17.07%; only the expenditures price of clothing commodities continues to decrease with a year-on-year decreasing rate of 1.88%.
